MSNCB President's Message

Jessica Tully, DNP, RN, CMSRN, CNML, CENP

April 2024

Last month we celebrated Certified Nurses Day. I hope you had a good one! Whether you are newly certified or have been certified over a span of years or decades, it is important to celebrate your hard work and dedication to the profession of nursing. I especially want to recognize those with medical-surgical certification (CMSRN). Your mastery of skill set to provide care in the difficult specialty for medical-surgical patients does not go unnoticed. The value a CMSRN brings to their patient is impactful and proves you bring the highest level of expertise to the forefront in the care you provide. I am honored to be a CMSRN and humbled to be part of the large professional group of dedicated certified medical-surgical nursing professionals.

I reflected on my nursing practice background during the past month. Being a medical-surgical nurse has brought me joy in my profession. There is no other specialty like it. The connection we get with our patients and families makes it the greatest blessing to be a medical-surgical nurse. I have worked in other areas within the hospital environment and nothing has been as fulfilling to me as a medical-surgical nurse. My CMSRN credential aligns with who I am as a person and a professional. I believe in providing the best care for our medical-surgical patients and value professional growth. I hope you have the same feelings towards your practice and credential. I know it took hard work and dedication to get to where you are today. I would like to thank you for your commitment to the nursing profession and especially to the specialty of medical-surgical nursing!
