AMSN and MSNCB are proud to partner with the Virtual Nursing Academy (VNA). This collaboration aims to revolutionize the education and practice of medical-surgical nursing in the virtual care environment, further enhancing patient outcomes, and professional development opportunities for nurses.

Virtual Nursing Academy

The Virtual Nursing Academy is the premier, self-directed online program designed to educate and enable organizations to build, launch, and optimize their virtual care delivery models. The Virtual Nursing Academy focuses on developing a strategic approach, building a pilot plan, creating a governance structure, outcome tracking, and optimizing operations of a virtual care model.

The American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS)

The American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) is a not-for-profit, membership organization governed by an elected group of representatives. ABNS is focused on improving patient outcomes and consumer protection by promoting specialty nursing certification. ABNS member organizations represent almost 930,000 certified registered nurses worldwide in a variety of settings. The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) is a member of ABNS.

The American Nurses Association Organizational Affiliates

The American Nurses Association Organizational Affiliates are specialty nursing organizations that hold organizational-level membership of ANA. AMSN, through its participation, shares information and collaborates in finding solutions to issues that face the nursing profession, and medical-surgical nurses specifically. The ability to achieve ANA’s vision is significantly strengthened by the knowledge and experience organizational affiliates bring; from contributing to ANA publications to sharing specialized knowledge at meetings and events. Organizational Affiliates each have a vote in ANA’s Membership Assembly.

The DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation was created in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes following his death at the age of 33 from an autoimmune disease, to thank nurses for their compassionate patient care. The DAISY acronym signifies Diseases Attacking the Immune System and the award is The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The foundation currently partners with more than 1,500 health care facilities worldwide and is allied with nine major nursing organizations in addition to AMSN. The foundation has received over 300,000 nominations and awarded more than 40,000 DAISY Awards. As a DAISY "Supportive Association," AMSN helps promote the foundation by getting its message out to med-surg nurses via this website, publications, social media pages, and other platforms.

Friends of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

The Friends of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is a voluntary coalition of more than 250 organizations that support the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). These groups are either the producers or end-users of the health services research developed by AHRQ. The Friends of AHRQ advocates on behalf of the agency to Congress. Activities include sending joint letters to key members of Congress; making joint visits to members of Congress and their staff; and holding briefings to demonstrate the importance of AHRQ research.

Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC)

The Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC) first convened in 2014, and later that year publicly announced its partnership and key strategy to help ensure that at least 10,000 board seats are filled by nurses in 2020. NOBC was created in response to the landmark 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, which recommended increasing the number of nurse leaders in pivotal decision-making roles on boards and commissions that work to improve the health of everyone in America. The Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation initially brought the groups together as part of their collaborative effort to implement the recommendations of the IOM report through the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action.

Nursing Community Coalition (NCC)

Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) includes 64 members, of which AMSN is one, that are the cross section of education, practice, research, and regulation within the nursing profession. The NCC believe that the healthcare delivery system should be one that promotes wellness, advances research through scientific discovery, and provides timely access to care across the continuum. With over four million licensed Registered Nurses (RNs), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and nursing students, the profession embodies the drive and passion to continually improve care for patients, families, and communities. AMSN supports the NCC in national advocacy initiatives intended to support and promote nursing care and delivery in the United States.

Nursing Organizations Alliance (NOA)

The Nursing Organizations Alliance (NOA) was formed when two long-standing coalitions of nursing organizations united to create an enduring collaborative that would promote a strong voice and cohesive action to address issues of concern to the community of nursing. NOA typically holds two conferences each year, the Fall Summit and the Nursing Alliance Leadership Academy (NALA). These conferences focus on developing, strengthening, and broadening nurses’ leadership skills as well as providing a forum for NOA members to communicate and collaborate with each other.

Professional Certification Coalition (PCC)

The Professional Certification Coalition (PCC) was formed to promote and represent non-governmental professional certification organizations and programs and their service providers. The PCC’s activities on behalf of members include development of research and white papers on the value of private professional certification programs and the effects of legislation affecting professional certification and occupational licensing; liaison with stakeholders supporting or opposing such legislation to educate them about the Coalition’s positions and to advocate for elimination of harmful language in proposed or model legislation; and ongoing monitoring and analysis of state and federal legislative activity in this area. MSNCB, as a coalition member, has access to written resources, updates and strategy sessions. MSNCB, as a coalition member also engages in advocacy campaigns accesses resources and tools to advocate to legislators regarding pending legislation that affects professional certification.
