Medical-Surgical Monitor Contributor Amplification Toolkit

Thank you for contributing to the Medical-Surgical Monitor and/or the Med-Surg Moments podcast! Now that you’ve completed the work of writing an article or participating in the podcast, AMSN is asking for your help to promote the content.

4 Steps to Promoting Your Medical-Surgical Monitor Article or Med-Surg Moments Podcast Episode

  1. Share on your social media platforms.

    • Write your post. Here is an example post you can modify for your purposes:
      • I’m excited to be a contributor to the Medical-Surgical Monitor, the official content destination of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. Read my article on XXX topic and let me know your thoughts in the comments! [Insert article link]
      • I’m excited to be a guest on Med-Surg Moments, the official podcast of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. Listen to the podcast on XXX topic and let me know your thoughts in the comments! [Insert podcast episode link]
    • Consider adding a sentence or two explaining the importance of the topic to you.
    • Find and tag AMSN across social platforms. AMSN is on Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.
  2. Engage with AMSN’s social posts about your content.

    • If you haven’t yet, please let the AMSN content team know your social media handles so they can tag you.
    • Once your content is shared, join the conversation by commenting on the post, resharing it, and/or adding it to your social media feed.
    • While you’re at it, engage with other posts on AMSN’s social media platforms to help amplify the voices of fellow medical-surgical nurses!
  3. Start or join a conversation about your content contribution on the Huddle, AMSN’s members-only community.

    • Determine where you’d like to share your content, whether in General Discussions or another community.
    • If relevant, determine which author will create the post.
    • Write the post to drive engagement, e.g., ask a question.
      • Post Title: Ask a question related to the content of your article or podcast.
      • Post Body (for article contributors): Hi everyone, I am excited to share this article I contributed to the Medical-Surgical Monitor: [“Insert article title”] [Insert article link]. I hope you will all take a few minutes to read the article and then return here to share your perspective. [Insert additional relevant questions to spark discussion.] Looking forward to reading your comments!
      • Post Body (for podcast guests): Hi everyone, I am excited to share that I was a guest on the Med-Surg Moments podcast: [“Insert episode title”] [Insert episode link]. I hope you will all listen to the episode and then return here to share your perspective. [Insert additional relevant questions to spark discussion.] Looking forward to reading your comments!
    • Let the AMSN content team know you are planning to post. They are happy to assist you in crafting your message and can include a link to the conversation within the article itself.
  4. Record a short video with our easy-to-use platform.

    • Consider these tips for recording your video:
      • Ensure notifications are silenced on your computer and move to a quiet place to record.
      • Select a background that isn’t busy, with a light source in front of you (e.g., in front of a window) instead of behind you.
      • Look directly into the camera on your computer, not at the screen.
      • Practice your talking points before hitting record.
      • Relax and have fun!
    • Click here to record your video. When you hit submit, AMSN staff will be able to access the video to use in promotions, but you can also download it to share on your social media platforms.
  5. Bonus: Spread the word!

    • Did you enjoy contributing content? Consider submitting another article in the future, reaching out to the AMSN content team with article ideas, and/or volunteering to contribute to topic requests you see shared by AMSN staff or Digital Content Committee members.
      • AMSN members can earn three contact hours for all accepted articles (submitted after April 1, 2025).
      • Not a member? No problem! Join now to access this benefit among many other opportunities to earn contact hours, like complimentary webinars, quarterly podcasts, discounted convention registration, and more!

    • Feature your content contribution prominently on your LinkedIn page, professional website, or CV.
    • Consider applying for and amplifying opportunities to join the AMSN Digital Content Committee or to become a subject matter expert.
