All of us – in our work as nurses and in our personal lives – must face inevitable mortality. In this era of incredible medical advances in prolonging life, we increasingly face difficult decisions about treatments that can extend life at the expense of the quality that makes life worth living. How, as nurses, can we support our patients and loved ones in making these complex decisions?

Nurses as Role Models for End-of-Life Decision-Making will explore that question, with a specific focus on gaining insight into our own attitudes about death and dying as well as beginning to understand the importance of doing our own end-of-life planning in order to become a more effective role-models.
