Empowerment and Impact: Day 3 at the 2025 AMSN Convention

Yee-haw! It’s time to reflect on and celebrate the final day of an incredible #AMSN2025. For day three of the convention, the AMSN Digital Content Committee and Podcast Subcommittee focused on empowerment and impact — especially the confidence and knowledge gained from all of the evidence-based practice they discovered at the convention.

Here’s how #AMSN2025 wrapped up.

A Texas-Sized Morning

Saturday kicked off with the annual AMSN Morning Walking Club, where med-surg nurses got their steps in and saw Austin before kicking off a day full of educational sessions. Before the learning began, attendees jumpstarted the day with breakfast, networking, and poster viewing in the exhibit hall, where everyone eagerly completed their bingo cards and passport to prizes challenge for the chance to win a complimentary registration to the 2026 AMSN Convention!

The day progressed with a full slate of sessions leading up to the final event — the AMSN Town Hall, presented by Board of Directors members Dr. Mark Lee, DNP, MS, BSN, RN-BC; and Alissa Brown, MSN, RN, CMSRN, NPD-BC.

AMSN Town Hall 2025

This year’s Town Hall theme was “Medical-Surgical Nurses as Relational Leaders.” Mark and Alissa outlined med-surg nurses’ role in compassionately leading patient care across a variety of contexts. All nurses have the power and responsibility to be leaders, not only for patient care, but also for the nursing profession itself. When striving to be a relational leader, keep this Maya Angelou quote top of mind: “They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

Where We Saw Empowerment and Impact

On the final day of #AMSN2025, the convention reporters reflected on the educational takeaways and connections made that had the most impact and empowered them this week. Here’s what they had to say:

  • I talked with Marie Marte, a medical science liaison and nurse practitioner, on the lunch break and asked her what evidence-based practices she’ll bring back to her practice: “The comprehensive reach of a falls program and the importance of bringing forward the frontline staff and leveraging tips, tools, and technology. Learning about the resources and tools that are being utilized and evidence-based research growing is something I will definitely take back. I understand that if there is a problem, there’s someone I met here who I can reach out to get a solution.” —Sydney Wall, RN, BSN, CMSRN
  • A strong safety culture does not begin with policy. It begins with people. —Deltra Muoki, PhD, APRN, AGNP-C, CMSRN, CNE, NE-BC
